P90X day 1
I started the P90X program yesterday. After a couple of months of researching the program and waiting on the dvds, I decided that July 1 would be the perfect day to start-- almost three months before my wedding. 90 days. That's how long the program lasts. Can 90 days be that long? I guess I will soon find out.
I took pictures of my body before the program. Everyone says do this. I quickly did the fitness test, and once I hit the suggested targets, I stopped soon after.
Weights, check.
Pull-up bar, check.
Dvds, check.
So far everything is great. Now all I have to do is get the courage to push play. Once I push the button, I'm committed. It will be 90 days of pain, but also 90 days worth of results. Can I do it? Should I postpone? No! I push play anxious for what I find. I chose the "classic" route which starts me with Chest & Back as well as Ab Ripper X.
As I work through the Chest & Back portion I realize that this isn't a fancy workout video. It sticks with the basics. Push-ups and pull-ups mostly. Yeah there are a couple of other moves, but those are welcomed! I get through the first round of moves and quickly feel the burn but push past it. Then we do the sets again. Ouch! I can feel my arms begin to shake as I struggle to keep up (or down) my body weight. By the end of the Chest & Back hour, my arms are somewhat numb. Thank goodness that wasn't any longer. But wait, I still need to do Ab Ripper X.
It automatically comes on after Chest & Back, and at this point, I don't mind working on abs-- as long as I don't have to use my arms! Let me just say that it is called Ab Ripper X and it means Ab Ripper X. There are no water breaks in the 15-16 minutes the program lasts. At one point I had to pause it. We were starting a new exercise that I knew I wouldn't be able to handle without a small break and counter-stretch. When I pushed play again. I gave it my all until the end of the dvd. Man! Not a single crunch-- thank goodness- but my core feels tighter and so do my arms. Day one down! Only 89 more to go. Later today I will have Plyometrics. Hopefully I will make it through that!
